This month, Members of Congress were sworn in and began the start of the 119th Congress. Now that a new session has started, members must prioritize passing a final appropriations package that supports reproductive well-being. Previously, Congress approved and passed the American Relief Act of 2025 in late December. This legislation was signed into law and extended government funding until March 2024. This means that priority programs and policies that support reproductive well-being, such as the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program (TPP) and Title X Family Planning Program (Title X), remain funded at current levels.
Members of Congress must finalize FY25 funding as soon as possible and, in those final appropriations bills, increase funding to priority programs and eliminate harmful policies that create barriers to information and health care for our communities. Specifically, Congress must:
- Provide $512 million for the Title X Family Planning Program;
- Provide $150 million for the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program;
- Eliminate funding for the harmful Sexual Risk Avoidance Program; and
- Remove anti-abortion policy riders such as the Hyde and Weldon Amendments.
As people continue to struggle to access sexual and reproductive health care, our policymakers should be increasing funding for programs that support our communities.
Contact your members of Congress and tell them to finalize FY25 funding and increase funding for critical programs like TPP and Title X.
