- The PAEA Government Relations team would like to thank our Grassroots Action Network (GAN) supporters who sent over 1,400 email messages to members of Congress in response to our online advocacy campaign to protect Grad PLUS loans that was launched on January 30.
- Advancing PAEA’s Advocacy Agenda
- Following an election cycle, PAEA conducts meetings and written outreach attempts to newly elected or appointed officials. As part of this work, the PAEA Government Relations team has sent an introductory letter from PAEA as well as a meeting request to discuss PAEA’s legislative goals to all 75 new freshman members in the 119th Congress.
- Throughout the month, PAEA has met with House Education and Workforce Republican committee staff to discuss possible higher education components of upcoming reconciliation legislation and the preservation of GRAD Plus.

- On January 14, Education and Workforce Committee Chair Tim Walberg (R-MI) announced that Rep. Burgess Owens (R-UT) will serve as Chair of the Higher Education and Workforce Development Subcommittee and Vice Chair of the full Committee and Rep. Rick Allen (R-GA) will serve as Chair of the Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions Subcommittee.
- House Appropriations Committee Chair Tom Cole (R-OK) announced Republican subcommittee rosters for the 119th Congress on January 15. The Chair of the Labor-HHS-Education Subcommittee will be Rep. Robert Aderholt.
