New Mexico Government Looking into Firearms Registration & Semi-Auto Ban
Yesterday, the Senate Finance Committee discussed, the Gas-Operated Semiauto Firearms Exclusion Act (GoSAFE),” which bans the possession of a plethora of hunting, sporting, and self-defense semi-automatic firearms.

With ten days left of the 2025 legislation session this sportsmen cratering bill could be brought up for a vote in the Senate Finance Committee at any time. Email the committee urging them to support sportsmen and vote “No” to SB 279. Remind them that criminals are not purchasing their firearms through legal means, so adding more restrictions to law-abiding sportsmen and gun-owners will do nothing to reduce criminals engaging in violent crime.

TAKE ACTION BUTTON HERE -

Senate Bill 279 prohibits the importation, sale, manufacture, transfer, receipt or possession of a gas-operated semi-automatic firearm and gives the Attorney General, with the consultation of the Department of Public Safety, the discretion to identify what gas-operated semiautomatic firearms will be placed on the list of prohibited firearms. If passed, current owners of a “newly” banned gas-operated semi-automatic firearm will be required to register those firearms by January 1, 2026 and carry a copy of their notarized “registration” form at all times when outside their private property.

Do not forget to share this important alert with your family, friends, and fellow sportsmen and gun owners. Urge them to use the Take Action button and to join you and the Sportsmen’s Alliance in standing up to fight, protect, and defend our values and lifestyle today, tomorrow, and for the future.
