Protect Low-Income Illinois Families from Predatory Lenders!
In 2021, the Predatory Loan Prevention Act (PLPA) capped the annual percentage rate on consumer loans in Illinois at 36% in a victory for efforts at eliminating structural racism. Prior to the bill's passage, consumers paid $607.4 million in interest and fees on payday loans, installment payday loans, auto title loans, and small consumer loans. In 2022, consumers paid $1,279 on these same loans – a savings of more than $600 million for Illinois families

Currently, there are efforts within the Illinois legislature to increase the state's interest rate cap and undo years of work to protect our state's most vulnerable consumers. We need your help to push back on these efforts! Please take a moment to send our pre-drafted email to your legislators and they put consumers first and protect PLPA. If this is your first time taking action here, please enter your contact information so that we can locate your legislators. After that, the pre-drafted email will appear, and all you have to do is click "Send". It's that easy.
