Great Lakes advocates know the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) investments mean major conservation wins for the region’s freshwater. New bipartisan legislation being introduced will give Congress the opportunity to reauthorize the successful federal program for five more years (through 2031) and secure a critical increase in investment up to $500 million annually. 

The GLRI Act of 2025 will put the program on solid footing so that GLRI can continue to support fish and wildlife habitat restoration, invasive species management, water quality improvement, and more.
