Fight Deforestation - Support the Forest Act
The FOREST Act is a bipartisan bill that aims to prohibit importing products into the U.S. sourced through illegal deforestation. The bill will promote government and business collaboration in countries suffering from illegal deforestation by improving laws, monitoring, assistance, and enforcement. The focus is on agricultural products such as cattle, cocoa, palm oil and soy.  Click here to learn more about the FOREST Act and how illegal deforestation contributes to climate change, biodiversity loss and violence against forest communities.

In light of our SSND Laudato Si’ Commitment, the School Sisters of Notre Dame (both Atlantic Midwest and Central Pacific Provinces) have joined with close to 100 faith-based organizations in a letter supporting the FOREST ACT that was delivered to legislators on key congressional committees. Please consider using our SSND Voter Voice Tool to amplify this message and urge your representative and senators to support this important legislation.
