School Sisters of Notre Dame

Advocating for Peace in Ukraine
The catastrophic war in Ukraine continues with no immediate end in sight. It has resulted in at least 8 million Ukrainian refugees fleeing to other countries for safety, 7 million internally displaced persons, nearly 9000 civilians killed (including at least 500 children), thousands of soldiers killed from both sides, untold ecological damage, and so much more.  The impacts of the war extend far beyond the Ukrainian borders to Europe and the rest of the world.

The School Sisters of Notre Dame have a deep commitment to standing up for human dignity, care for our common home, and promoting peace and nonviolence. Let us urge our members of Congress to speak publicly and to the U.S. President about doing all we can to promote diplomatic negotiations and other proven peacebuilding practices to bring about a just and speedy conclusion to this violence and bloodshed.
