Pet Heat Lamps are Under Attack – Step Up to Help Today

What’s at stake: 

Due to a regulation enacted by the Department of Energy (DOE) back in 2022 that aimed at improving energy efficiency for lightbulbs found in the average American home, companies that make essential pet products like heat lamps for reptiles, are now being told to remove them from shelves across America because of the light bulbs they contain.  That means removing access to vital lamp products that pet owners need to make sure their pets stay healthy and thriving.  

Pet heat lamps provide reptiles with warmth, UV radiation, and a routine which can help mimic their natural environment:  

• Infrared light provides heat to help regulate body temperature. 

• UVA light helps regulate behaviors such as feeding, diurnal movement, mating and similar activities. 

• UVB light allows the synthesis of vitamin D3, which helps to absorb calcium. 

While the DOE wants Americans to switch their lightbulbs at home to LED lights to save energy, these LED lights do not provide the benefits that some pets need to survive.  

Each species of reptile or amphibian has its own unique needs for heat and lighting, but they ALL need pet heat lamps to survive in captivity! This type of lighting remains the best method for meeting the animal’s needs across all three forms of the light spectrum (ultraviolet, visible and infrared radiation) to ensure the animal’s health in captivity.  

These overly restrictive and misguided regulations from DOE are endangering pets and we need your help to set this right NOW!
