Ask the Legislature to Increase Funding for Nursing Services
Many nonpublic schools do not have a nurse present for all of the hours that students are present in the school.  In an effort to provide a full-time nurse when students are present, we are asking the Legislature to increase the per-pupil amount for nursing services from $130 to $150.  This increase needs to be done through a Budget Resolution which will change the Budget language regarding the per-pupil amount for nursing services.

When nursing services began in the 1991-1992 school year, the per-pupil amount was $60.00.  The increase of $70.00 over the past 33 years is not sufficient to cover the increased cost of nurses, so many nonpublic schools go without a nurse in the building for a significant number of school hours.  Since school nurses are first-responders for emergencies, it is imperative to have a nurse present at all hours when students are present in the school.

Ask your legislators to Sponsor or sign onto a Budget Resolution to increase nonpublic school nursing services.
