NARFE supports the Federal Adjustment of Income Rates (FAIR) Act, H.R. 493/S. 126, introduced by Rep. Gerry Connolly, D-VA, and Sen. Brian Schatz, D-HI. The bill proposes a 4.3 percent pay increase for federal employees in 2025 with a 3.3% across-the-board increase, and a 1% average increase to locality pay rates.  

This increase falls in line with recent private-sector wage growth and the expected increase to military pay. Additionally, the increase would allow the federal government to better compete with the private sector to attract and retain a highly qualified, top-performing federal workforce and improve the morale of current employees.  

Please use the sample letter below to urge your members of Congress to support inclusion of a federal rate increase in the Financial Services and General Government appropriations bill. If your lawmakers are already cosponsors, the system will prompt you to send a thank you letter instead.
