Protect Healthcare for 9/11 Responders
On September 11, 2001, tens of thousands of fire fighters rushed to Ground Zero and the Pentagon to save lives. Their service directly exposed them to countless carcinogens and toxins, forcing these men and women to now face cancer and other chronic health conditions. In 2010, we worked with Congress to establish the World Trade Center (WTC) Health program to ensure these first responders can access high-quality healthcare monitoring. This program now provides life-saving healthcare for more than 132,000 9/11-first responders and survivors. Unfortunately, the WTC Health Program is facing a funding shortfall and may be forced to deny new enrollment in the coming years. Congress must live out its promise to never forget 9/11 and pass the 9/11 Responder and Survivor Health Funding Correction Act of 2024 (S. 4724/H.R. 9101).
