Help support Veterans nationwide by urging your legislators to support the VA Loan Informed Disclosure (VALID) Act of 2025, introduced as H.R. 3694 and S. 1932. Help Veterans and Servicemembers save up to tens of thousands of dollars when buying a home by ensuring they’re informed about the VA loan benefits they’ve earned, before they sign. The VALID Act also moves the Military Service question above the signature line on the mortgage application. This not only makes this a required question on all mortgage applications but also makes it so that the responses to this question will be available in HMDA data in the future. This will help organizations like the BAC make more informed decisions when servicing Veterans.
Despite the fact that VA loans frequently offer superior terms, including no down payment, lower interest rates, and reduced closing costs compared to many other loan options, far too many Veterans are still not taking advantage of their VA Home Loan Benefits.
One of the main reasons for the mass underutilization of VA benefits is the sheer lack of awareness and education. VA.gov states that only 1 in 3 of our Veterans are familiar with this significant benefit they have earned through their dedication and service.
The VALID Act will provide Veteran homebuyers a comprehensive picture of their VA loan options through a side-by-side comparison of conventional, FHA, and VA home loans. This legislation will help Veterans make more informed choices about their financing options and potentially increase the utilization of VA home loans.
Write a letter to your legislators today. This small change will make a big impact in helping more Veterans achieve the dream of homeownership.
