Texans- Oppose Vouchers & Education Savings Accounts
The Texas Legislative Session is well underway, with the goal of creating a school voucher program, also known as an Education Savings Account. The Autism Society of Texas and other disability advocates are deeply concerned about the potential consequences of such a program, which could jeopardize federal and state protections for students with disabilities and their families within private schools.

Instead of establishing a school voucher program to send students to private schools, we must urge members of the Texas legislature to oppose HB 3 and instead focus on ensuring that students with disabilities receive the support, services, and protections they need to thrive within our public educational system.

Please use this Action Alert to easily message your State Representative to educate them on the downsides of establishing vouchers & Education Savings Accounts including discrimination or expulsion resulting in Autistic students not being able to attend a private school, loss of disability protections including accommodations under IDEA, ESAs cover only a fraction of tuition at most Autism private schools, and often no transportation provided. Take Action -Oppose HB 3!
