Take Action for Medicare Payment Reform
The Medicare Physician Fee Schedule has faced year-over year cuts. In addition, it does not currently have a built-in annual inflationary update. Medicare payment for providers billing under the fee schedule has failed to keep pace with the true cost of running a practice. Combined with record inflation, year-over-year cuts, and coming on the heels of a highly disruptive pandemic, this is impacting Medicare patients’ access to the services they need.

The Medicare Patient Access and Practice Stabilization Act of 2025 (H.R. 879) has been introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives by Greg Murphy, R-N.C.; along with Jimmy Panetta, D-Calif.; Mariannette Miller-Meeks, R-Iowa; Ami Bera, D-Calif.; Raul Ruiz, D-Calif.; John Joyce, R-Pa.; Carol Miller, R-Wv; Raja Krishnamoorthi, D-Ill., and Kim Schrier, D-Wash.

This APTA-supported bipartisan legislation would fully eliminate the 2.8% Medicare reimbursement cut, impacting dozens of providers paid under the fee schedule that began on Jan. 1, 2025.  The bill also provides an inflation adjustment that would result in a payment increase to providers paid under the 2025 Medicare Fee Schedule for the remainder of the year beginning on April 1, 2025.

APTA is advocating for major reforms to the Medicare Fee Schedule and APTA advocates must take action. Your voice and stories are important and your legislators need to hear them. You may use the following form letter to contact your representative and customize it as you see fit.

Thank you for your advocacy by contacting your representative and urging them to help fix the flawed Medicare fee schedule by co-sponsoring H.R. 879 and to include it in the upcoming March legislative package.
