Contact Your Legislators on Medicare Cuts, Telehealth, and Long-Term Reform
The 119th Congress is underway, and now is the time to address key provisions supporting the physical therapy profession. Unfortunately, the final legislation passed by Congress in December 2024 omitted two critical provisions that APTA had advocated for:

  • Over $2 billion in additional funding for a 2.5% boost to the 2025 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule, which would have mitigated the scheduled cuts to providers.
  • A two-year extension of telehealth that would have included therapists as authorized providers through 2026.

Both of these items had broad bipartisan support and were viewed as noncontroversial. We must now ask Congress to address these issues before March and your voice is critical.

Additionally, APTA is advocating for long-term Medicare reform to stop the frustrating year-over-year cycle of cuts and ensure a sustainable and effective healthcare system that works for patients and providers.

Take a few minutes to contact your members of Congress and be sure to add a personal story of how these issues impact you, your patients, and your business.
