We are in the final weeks of the 118th session of Congress, and the clock is ticking. There is a laundry list of crucial issues that must be resolved before Congress adjourns in December — issues that directly impact the future of health care.
Congress must pass a year-end legislative package that includes:
- An increase in Medicare fee schedule payments to ensure fair compensation for health care providers (H.R. 10073).
- An extension to prevent telehealth privileges for PTs and PTAs from expiring on Dec. 31, which would affect millions of patients and providers.
- A solution to the overuse of prior authorization by Medicare Advantage plans that is causing unnecessary delays in patient care (H.R. 8702/S. 4532).
Political wrangling may prevent a year-end package from being considered before Congress adjourns, meaning these critical issues wouldn’t be addressed until the new Congress convenes in 2025 — and that is unacceptable. We need to pressure Congress to do their job and address the long list of must-pass issues before this session closes at the end of December.
