Support the Medicare Patient Access and Practice Stabilization Act (H.R. 10073)
The Medicare Physician Fee Schedule has faced year-over year cuts. In addition, it does not currently have a built-in annual inflationary update. Medicare payment for providers billing under the fee schedule has failed to keep pace with the true cost of running a practice. Combined with record inflation, year-over-year cuts, and coming on the heels of a highly disruptive pandemic, this is impacting Medicare patients’ access to the services they need.

The Medicare Patient Access and Practice Stabilization Act of 2024 (H.R. 10073) has been introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives by Greg Murphy, R-N.C.; along with Jimmy Panetta, D-Calif.; Mariannette Miller-Meeks, R-Iowa; Ami Bera, D-Calif.; Larry Bucshon, R-Ind.; Raul Ruiz, D-Calif.; John Joyce, R-Pa.; and Kim Schrier, D-Wash.

This bipartisan legislation would more than eliminate the planned 2.8% cut to dozens of providers paid under the fee schedule that is to begin Jan. 1, 2025; the legislation would also provide a 1.9% payment INCREASE to providers paid under the 2025 Medicare Fee Schedule.

APTA is advocating for major reforms to the Medicare Fee Schedule. This legislation is a good first step.

APTA advocates must take action. Please take a few minutes to contact your representative and urge them to help fix the flawed Medicare fee schedule by co-sponsoring H.R. 10073.
