Voice your Support to Fund Education for Multilingual Learners and ELT Professionals in Fiscal Year 25
The 118th Congress is now in the Lame Duck Session, post national elections, and we still do not have a federal budget passed for fiscal year 2025 (FY25).

Operating under a Continuing Resolution through 20th December, one of the priorities of the Lame Duck will be FY25 funding - and funding for the ELT profession and multilingual learners of English remains under threat for cuts and in some cases elimination.

Alert your Representative and Senators today that the U.S. Federal Budget should not sacrifice necessary funding for multilingual learners of English and English language teaching professionals.

Let them know that the proposed cuts to education from the House Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Services (LHHS-E) do not represent our values.

LHHS-E has proposed cuts to Education that:

  • reduces funding to ESEA Title I grants for local educational agencies by over 25% - an almost $5 billion decrease from FY24
  • eliminates all funding to ESEA Title III for English Language Acquisition (yes, you read that correctly)
  • eliminates all funding to ESEA Title II-A and to HEA Title II - drastically impacting the ability to address the shortage of ELT, bilingual, and dual language educators.
