Tell Congress: Supplemental Farm Assistance Needed by End of Year
USDA and White House recently announced a new Farmer Bridge Assistance (FBA) program to provide $12 billion in farm relief across several commodities. ASA appreciates this action, but more support is needed to address the significant losses facing farm country this year. Contact your Congressional delegation today to urge Congress to develop a supplementary farm assistance program to maximize relief and help soybean farmers make it to the next planting season.

ASA and other commodity groups are continuing to highlight the vast need for additional farm assistance. According to reports, the agriculture sector is facing nearly $40 billion in losses for 2025, and while the FBA program is a welcome first step, more is needed. Due to the ASA winter meeting and travel schedule, we cannot bring growers to Washington, D.C., so we are asking farmer members and state staff to support a write-in and call-in campaign.

ASA is advocating for a supplemental farm assistance package that accounts for trade losses in addition to production costs, given the soybean market’s losses from Chinese retaliatory tariffs.

Take Action Now

Remind your members of Congress:

A supplemental farm assistance package is urgently needed

Any package must account for trade-based losses

ASA is working with Senate members on legislation providing a flexible formula to cover trade and price losses. Now that the USDA FBA program has been announced, Congress can better identify what more needs to be done. We must continue reaching out to ensure soybean farmers’ concerns remain a priority.
