In the latest attack on U.S. foreign aid, the Trump Administration has announced its intention to cut off U.S. funding for Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance. This is another devastating decision that will have devastating outcomes.
Gavi is a global partnership that focuses on increasing access to vaccines in lower-income countries. Since it was created in 2000, Gavi has supported countries to vaccinate more than 1 billion children. Estimates are that without U.S. funding, 75 million children will go without lifesaving vaccines in the next five years; 1.2 million of them will die.
Congress has repeatedly invested in Gavi and other global humanitarian programs because they work. Members of Congress must demand these unconstitutional attacks on foreign aid be stopped and reversed.
Please urge your members of Congress to demand the Administration reverse the termination of lifesaving programs immediately.
