Since 2002, the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria has helped save 70 million lives. Moreover, last year, the Global Fund helped provide HIV treatment for 25.6 million people and tuberculosis treatment for 7.4 million people. This kind of achievement is world-changing.
At the Global Fund's 8th replenishment this fall, the U.S. pledged to uphold its 1:2 matching commitment — $1 for every $2 from other donors. This vital three-year U.S. pledge of $4.6 billion will be lifesaving. Please thank your members of Congress for their support of this pledge!
But in addition to this new promise, we also need to pay what’s already owed. There is money already promised to the Global Fund and already appropriated by Congress, but it is still stuck in the U.S. treasury waiting to be sent. We must see that all U.S. pledged funds are delivered.
