Tell Congress to Create a Regulatory Agency for Digital Platforms

It’s undeniable that the major digital platforms we use every day are powerful. Research shows that platforms like Google and Facebook have persistent market power, leaving little room for new platforms to enter the market. If this continues, we’ll see less innovation, limited consumer choice, and lower quality products.

Digital platforms are today’s marketplace, library, and public square, and are difficult for modern-day consumers to avoid — now more than ever. We need a regulator that has the expertise and the tools to address the problems posed by big platforms — from content moderation, to competition, to privacy and consumer protection. Such a regulator does not yet exist.

We can’t wait any longer — Congress needs to create a new regulator that can handle this 21st-century priority. Send a letter to your members of Congress telling them to stand up for consumers on digital platforms. The problems that stem from such uncompetitive markets will only get worse if left unregulated.
