TRICARE Issues are Impacting Care to Military!
TRICARE’s transition in the West Region from Health Net Federal Services to TriWest Healthcare Alliance did not go well. Many providers are still having significant challenges despite the waiver that was issued by the Defense Health Agency (DHA) on January 23, 2025, suspending the requirement for TRICARE patients in the West Region to get pre-authorization from their TRICARE contract manager for outpatient specialty care. While the waiver was set to expire on March 30, 2025, TriWest announced that this waiver will now be effective January 1, 2025, through April 30, 2025.

Providers of all types in TRICARE’S West Region are having issues, not just PTPN members! While PTPN has reached out to our contacts at TriWest to get answers and directions, they have gone silent. It’s time to take action! Congressional leaders need to hear from you and how this is affecting your practice. They can put pressure on the DHA to take action to fix these issues.

The extension of the waiver is just a small band-aid. Please take a moment to contact your congressional delegation. As a constituent, they need to hear from you about what is happening to your business and profession due to TriWest’s handling of TRICARE and DHA’s lack of oversight to ensure things are fixed. 

Take action now to tell your legislators to reach out to the DHA and demand these issues get fixed.
