The U.S. Department of Education was created in 1867 and ensures equal access to education for all children in our nation. The Department is uniquely suited to administer programs and funding streams that serve students, families and schools that need it most, like IDEA and Title I, and its role and federal education-related funding is essential to improving academic outcomes and student well-being in our communities and across the country. The core functions of and programs administered by the Department of Education cannot be transferred, dismantled or diminished without having devastating impacts on the children, families and schools they serve. 

There could not be a more urgent time for Congress to invest in education and protect the U.S. Department of Education.  

TAKE ACTION NOW and urge Congress to support a FY26 appropriations bill that includes adequate funding for education-related programs and restores the important work of the U.S. Department of Education.
