Call on Congress to Fund Nursing Education and Research
Federal support for educating tomorrow’s nurses is in serious jeopardy. The Trump administration proposed eliminating funding for all the nursing workforce development programs under Title VIII of the Public Health Service Act in its fiscal 2026 budget, except the Nurse Corps Program, as well as dissolving the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR).

While they rejected the administration’s budget, congressional committees have advanced fiscal 2026 Labor-HHS-Education bills that could cut Title VIII funding by nearly $47 million, eliminating the Nursing Workforce Diversity Program and the Nurse Faculty Loan Program.

Members of Congress must hear from their constituents how vital it is to provide funding sufficient to support nursing education and research fully. Contact your U.S. Senators and Representative NOW and urge them to provide the highest possible funding for all Title VIII Nursing Workforce Development Programs and for the National Institute of Nursing Research.
