Say No to Eliminating Retroactive Medicaid Coverage
The budget is being debated on the floor of the Nebraska Legislature, and one cut on the table is the total elimination of Medicaid retroactive eligibility. The state contends this move saves money, but the math doesn't work. And the health care costs don't vanish. Patients are left with debt, hospitals are left with uncompensated care, and costs are shifted to businesses and commercially insured families, creating a hidden tax on every Nebraskan.

There are other, better options for solving the budget challenges rather than creating a problem twice the size of the solution.

Eliminating retroactive coverage sends a message to Nebraska’s patients and providers, children and families, that access to health care is not a priority.  We need you to act now. Send a message to your State Senator and urge them to reject a zero-day retroactive period.
