  Maryland Agriculture's Role in Draft Phase III WIP  
 


The draft version of the Phase III Watershed Implementation Plan (WIP) was recently released by the Maryland Department of the Environment. As in the other two phases, agriculture will continue to play a major role in meeting Chesapeake Bay cleanup goals by 2025.

A message from Valerie Connelly:
After 24 years with Maryland Farm Bureau, I will be leaving at the end of June to pursue a new opportunity. I have enjoyed all of the great work we have accomplished together for farm families. I remain dedicated to the mission of Farm Bureau and will continue to be an active volunteer in Cecil County.   MDA Launches Fieldwatch Program  
 

The Maryland Department of Agriculture's Pesticide  Regulation Section has announced the implementation of FieldWatch, an online registry that connects beekeepers, specialty crop growers and pesticide applicators around the state. This registry uses precision mapping tools to help commercial applicators know where beehives and specialty crops are located, thus showing which areas are more sensitive to pesticides.   Market Facilitation Program Deadline Extended

  Governor Seeking Recipes for Buy Local Cookout  
 

Governor Larry Hogan invites chefs to submit original recipes for the Governor's Buy Local Cookout, which will be held on July 18th. Recipes must include products from at least one Maryland farmer, waterman, or other producer. Chefs are encouraged to submit simple, but creative recipes that showcase ways the average Maryland family can prepare delicious, nutritious meals with locally produced food at home. Recipes must be submitted by May 17th. Submit your recipe today!
