Indiana has a housing crisis, with declining homeownership and one of the lowest rates of affordable and available housing in the Midwest for the most vulnerable Hoosiers. It's a problem that no single state agency or piece of legislation can fix. And there are resources available for housing, but they are scattered and siloed and inaccessible to the Hoosiers and communities who need them most.

That's why nearly 700 Hoosier organizations and individuals signed on to Prosperity Indiana's letter urging Governor Mike Braun to use his authority to create and convene a Commission on Housing Safety, Stability, and Affordability. Only the Governor can provide the leadership and structure necessary for such a Commission to align existing funding and resources in order to improve Indiana's housing supply, affordability, and safety outcomes.
