Due to the high costs associated with having HAE, many people rely on charitable assistance to help them pay for insurance premiums and medical co-payments. The HELP Copays Act would protect access to certain types of patient assistance programs by mandating that third-party payments, financial assistance, discounts, product vouchers, and other reductions count toward any deductible, co-insurance, co-payment and out-of-pocket limit for a group health plan or individual insurance coverage.
