Assisted suicide proponents are pushing to pass Illinois Senate Bill 3499, which would allow for lethal drugs to be prescribed for a terminal diagnosis of six months or less to live. With no mental health evaluation required, no in-person consultation required with telehealth use, and a five-day waiting period that could be waived, this bill is dangerous. Through our collective advocacy efforts with other coalition partners, the bill died in the 2024 legislative session.
But the bill is returning in January. We urge you to call and email your Illinois senator and representative to ensure their opposition to this bill (We expect that the bill number will be changed, so we will keep you posted on that).
CONTACT your legislators TODAY and urge them to vote “NO” SB 3499.
Thank you for helping in our collective efforts to protect vulnerable Illinoisans and to uphold the values and traditions of the Hippocratic Oath.
