Congress is currently considering the Countering CCP Drones Act, also known as H.R. 2864/S. 4792, which would block new DJI products from entering the United States market and could revoke FCC authorizations from existing drones. Simply put — if passed, it’s possible that millions of existing consumer, enterprise, and agricultural drones from DJI would be rendered useless and unable to fly in U.S. airspace.

Unfortunately, American farmers and agricultural service providers across the United States who have adopted Agras spraying drones as an effective method of applying crop protection products throughout the growing season will be among the most affected by this legislation. Farther down the chain, the Countering CCP Drones Act would hurt all of us who rely on our farmers for reliable and safe food production. 

Agricultural drone technology supports sustainable agriculture, allowing American farmers and business owners to integrate additional precision farming practices into their operations. By leveraging precise, aerial applications (e.g. applying crop protection products via drone), American farmers and more easily: 

• Reduce crop input use (stewarding the land by only applying product exactly where it’s needed)
• Increase yield opportunities (by delivering crop protection products precisely when and where they are needed, farmers can more efficiently control weed, pest, and disease pressures that eat into yield potential when not treated promptly)
• Prevent costly yield loss (often incurred when applying late-season products over a standing crop canopy using conventional ground rig application methods)

 

Make your voices heard and tell Congress to oppose this unfair bill! We have provided a pre-filled letter to send, and encourage you to include the reasons for why you do not support this bill. If you are a farmer, you might want to include how this would negatively affect your operations, and the money loss you might face because of it.
