Take Action: RI ACC Initiative to Expand SMBP Coverage!
Dear Rhode Island ACC Members,

Led by Drs. Kayle Shapero, Vishal Khetpal, and Verity Ramirez, your Chapter is spearheading legislation to expand Medicaid coverage for self-measured blood pressure cuffs for pregnant and postpartum women and ensure providers are reimbursed for the services rendered. House Bill 5991 (Representative Stewart) and Senate Bill 706 (Senator Murrary) have been introduced and are already gaining traction! Senate Bill 706 was heard today in the Senate Health and Human Services.

We know that early detection enables timely intervention and management of hypertension in pregnancy, ultimately reducing the risks of complications. HB 5591/SB 706 is a cost-effective method for monitoring blood pressure to help improve healthy outcomes for Rhode Island's mothers and babies.
