Tell your Council Member: More Public Bathrooms Now!
Take action now and call on the New York City Council and the New York City Mayor to fully invest and commit to establishing a robust public bathroom infrastructure for all New Yorkers by passing three laws that would:

  • Open bathrooms in public areas of government buildings to the public (Int 0267-2024)
  • Build bathrooms in parks and public transport on sites that are already identified (Int 0272-2024), and
  • Create a long-term capital plan to build, clean, and maintain a network of public bathrooms to reach a target of 1 public toilet per 2,000 residents (Int 0694-2024).

Access to public restrooms makes for healthier and cleaner communities. Yet, there is only 1 public restroom per 7,500 residents in New York, and only two that are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Restricting access to public restrooms is a quality-of-life issue that affects us all.
