Background:
Unless Congress passes legislation, the enhanced premium tax credits will expire on December 31, 2025. The premium tax credits for marketplace plans make health insurance more affordable for low- and middle-income Americans who do not qualify for Medicaid. The Congressional Budget Office projects that about 4 million Americans will lose their health insurance coverage if these tax credits are not extended. A Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF) report also estimates that roughly 19 million Americans will face double or triple-digit increases in their premium payments.
Action Requested: Please contact your members of Congress and ask them to pass legislation that extends the health insurance premium tax credits for Health Insurance Marketplace coverage. A sample message has been provided for you that can be personalized.
