The Improving Care and Access to Nurses (ICAN) Act will ensure patient access to health care services by removing outdated Medicare and Medicaid barriers on Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNM) and other advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs). We encourage all midwives and midwifery supporters to contact their House Representative and Senators and urge them to cosponsor the ICAN Act (H.R. 2713/S. 2418) to ensure that all people are served by a health system that delivers evidence-based, safe, effective, timely, efficient, and patient-centered midwifery and APRN care.
