Stop the Destruction of Federal Disability and Aging Programs
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has announced that it plans to cut 10,000 jobs and shrink its current 28 divisions into 15. This is a drastic proposal. HHS claims that it will save $1.8 billion through this restructure (described at this link), which will impact key disability and senior service agencies like CMS, SAMSHA, and ACL, which is the Administration on Community Living. However, ACL was specifically created as its own efficiency mechanism to improve the delivery of services to seniors and people with disabilities nationwide. The restructure of HHS, and the dismantling of ACL, will hurt millions of people with disabilities and seniors. We need your help to ask Congress to stop this destructive effort.
