Dear AACN Advocate:
As we have passed the midpoint of the 118th Congress, there are limited days left to move our top legislative priorities forward. We need your help!
Join us in asking your Senators and Representative to consider policies that address America’s health care and higher education needs, such as:
- Support at least $530 million for Title VIII Nursing Workforce Development Programs and $210 million for the National Institute of Nursing Research in FY 2025.
- Cosponsor & Pass legislation impacting academic nursing, including:
- Future Advancement of Academic Nursing (FAAN) Act (S.3770/H.R.7266), to support nursing schools, faculty, and students and ensure the next generation of nursing leaders are available to meet the nation’s healthcare demands.
- Educating Future Nurses Act (S.1586/H.R.3623), which helps increase clinical education for Advanced Practice Registered Nurses.
- Nurse Corps Tax Parity Act (S.1446/H.R.5080), a bipartisan bill to support nurses working in underserved areas.
- Nurse Faculty Shortage Reduction Act (S.2815/H.R.7002), to help address the pay gap between clinical and faculty positions.
- Stop Nurse Shortages Act (H.R.8330), a bipartisan bill that helps support the creation and expansion of accelerated nursing degree programs.
- PRECEPT Nurses Act (S.1627), a bipartisan bill to recruit and retain nurse preceptors.
- Support Faculty and Expand Access to Nursing School Act of 2023 (H.R.3263), which would provide grants to help recruit and retain nursing faculty and clinical preceptors.
- Invest in nursing education pathways and sustain and preserve student loan programs.
With so much Congressional activity around academic nursing, now is the time for your federal policymakers to hear directly from you. Send an email today highlighting these vital legislative efforts.
