Tell Congress to Pass the Patient Access and Practice Stabilization Act of 2024.
If the scheduled cuts happen, it will be the fifth consecutive year that Medicare reimbursement rates have decreased, threatening access to care for millions of Medicare patients:
- The operational costs of running a healthcare practice have surged by 47%, according to the Medicare Economic Index (MEI), which measures inflation in physicians' practice costs and general wage levels.
- Additionally, Medicare reimbursement has declined by 29% since 2001 when adjusted for inflation.
Reimbursement is not keeping pace with rising costs.
To address this critical issue, the Patient Access and Practice Stabilization Act of 2024 has been introduced in the House. If passed, this bill would eliminate the -2.8% Medicare conversion factor (CF) cut and add a +1.8% increase to the CF for 2025.
Physicians are not asking for a raise; they are asking for fairness.
Congress must act to fix the MPFS; without intervention, this widening gap between reimbursement and costs will directly affect Medicare patients, who have contributed to the system for decades and deserve access to quality care.
