Preserving Healthcare: The Crucial Role of the 2024 Elections
May 23, 2024 by Megan Boyd

We are less than six months away from the 2024 general elections, and the results will directly impact the business of healthcare, patients, and providers everywhere. Key issues include fixing a broken Medicare system to ensure fair physician payments, addressing the nationwide physician shortage amidst a growing aging population and rising health inequities, and resolving challenges from the botched implementation of the No Surprises Act Independent Dispute Resolution process.

In the U.S. House of Representatives, medical providers turned legislators are part of the Doctors Caucus, using their expertise to develop patient-centered healthcare policy. This year, three key members – Rep. Larry Bucshon of Indiana, Rep. Michael Burgess of Texas, and Rep. Brad Wenstrup of Ohio – are retiring after a combined 45 years in office. Their departure leaves a significant void in the Doctors Caucus and Congress.

It is crucial to elect successors committed to healthcare, equipped with the expertise to navigate its complexities. To protect the business of healthcare and ensure accessible care for all patients, voting is essential.
