Participation is Critical for the AMA Practice Survey
January 30, 2024 by Megan Boyd

The American Medical Association (AMA) released their survey, Physician Practice Information Survey, in July 2023, yet despite their efforts, the response rate to this survey has been extremely low. The survey's purpose is to gather data on practice expenses and direct patient care hours.

Without accurate and updated practice costs, it is unlikely that there will be any upward adjustment in Medicare reimbursement rates. The survey results will be shared with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and these results impact practice expense reimbursement for physicians. The data that CMS is currently using has not been updated in 18 years, so it is due time for updated information.

Notification of selection for participation in the survey was sent via email, from PPISurvey@mathematica-mpr.com or PhysicianHoursSurvey@mathematic-mpr.com. The survey needs to be completed by April 2024, and participation is critical.
