Last week, Shelley Polanco, Director of State Policy in the Public Policy & Government Affairs Department at Vibrant Emotional Health, had the privilege of attending the 988 Network Region 9 Convening in San Francisco. She joined Assembly Member Rebecca Bauer-Kahan and representatives from Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) in a collaborative session focused on sustainable funding for 988 Suicide & Lifeline (988 Lifeline) crisis centers.
The convening provided a unique platform for open dialogue with crisis center leaders, allowing us to discuss essential funding needs, address challenges, and explore strategies to enhance support for help seekers. Together, we’re committed to building a future where the 988 Lifeline can provide robust, consistent care for individuals in crisis across Region 9 and beyond.
