This December, Vibrant Emotional Health was invited to attend the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ first Music is Medicine event, held at the HHS headquarters, Hubert H. Humphrey Building in Washington D.C. This musical event spotlighted music’s impact on mental health and wellness and featured remarks from HHS Secretary Xavier Beccera, Dr. Maria Rosario Jackson, Chair of the National Endowment for the Arts, and Dr. Miriam Delphin-Rittmon, Assistant Secretary for Mental Health and Substance Use. Four musical groups performed: the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps Music Ensemble, the EMS Heatstroke Band, Vida Senior Centers Golden Years Choir, and Steel Drum Students from Elsie Whitlow Stokes School.
