The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has announced $24.5 million in awards to 34 tribes and tribal organizations across the country. These awards will be used to implement evidence-based and culturally grounded early childhood home-visiting programs that support the health and well-being of expectant families and families with young children.
HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra said that “HHS is committed to the health and well-being of all American Indian and Alaska Native families and communities. These awards ensure that expectant families, and families with young children, will have access to home visiting services and high-quality care.”
Nine tribes are receiving this award for the first time to establish home-visiting programs, while 25 tribes and tribal organizations are receiving funds to sustain and expand existing programs.
