This clean-up legislation to the LAI Pharmacists bill, which allows for gluteal injections, authorizes pharmacists in New York to administer long-acting injectable (LAI) medications for treating mental health conditions and substance use disorders. The expansion of providers who can administer the medications would provide more access for New Yorkers to get medications closer to home by allowing treatment at local pharmacies instead of doctor’s offices or clinics. The Bill has passed both chambers and is waiting for the Governor’s signature.
