"Mental Health Matters" Framework for State Policymakers Released

With 1 in 5 Americans living with a mental illness and 46% of Americans meeting the criteria for a mental health condition at some point, our nation is facing a significant mental health crisis. This crisis is fueling substantial challenges at the state level, from workforce shortages in the behavioral health sector to employment barriers for people with mental health conditions.

The newly-released Mental Health Matters: Framework on Workforce Mental Health Policy outlines policy options to address these issues, including ways to:

  • Enhance mental health parity
  • Increase access to workplace care and support
  • Address the unique needs of underserved communities
  • Recruit and retain qualified mental health providers
