Earlier this year, New York State Governor Hochul enacted a historic budget allocating $1 billion to the Office of Mental Health (OMH) to expand mental health services throughout the state.
OMH recently released a 988 Community Education and Awareness Toolkit to build on its ongoing public education campaign. The toolkit highlights the key signs and risks associated with suicide to give New Yorkers the resources to address the mental health crisis. It provides an array of marketing/ educational materials, like palm cards, brochures, posters, social media graphics, conversation tips about 988, and FAQs.
The toolkit is also available in 9 languages and includes a downloadable SAMHSA Safety Plan that can be used with individuals receiving services, for tabling events, and yourself.
