BREAKING NEWS: Mayor's budget released
March 24, 2016 by Jesse Rabinowitz

Mayor Bowser just released her budget proposal, which sets the District’s funding priorities for the coming year.

Budget Breakdown

GOOD NEWS! The Mayor’s Budget proposal calls for over $13 million for housing to end homelessness for approximately 384 families and 400 individuals like Bill, who is now housed after experiencing homelessness for nearly 25 years. Specifically, the FY17 budget will end homelessness for:

In addition, the Mayor fulfilled her promise to invest $100 million in the Housing Production Trust Fund, a tool that helps build and preserve affordable housing, including housing for people who are homeless.

Despite these significant investments, DC is not on track to end chronic homelessness by 2017.  Although ambitious, this goal holds us accountable to ending chronic homelessness as soon as possible.  We know that our most vulnerable neighbors cannot wait any longer.

What’s next?

With your help we can work to protect this funding and fill the remaining gaps. Together, we can ensure that DC ends chronic homelessness.
