Tell Congress to Fund Education Multilingual Learners and ELT Professionals for Fiscal Year 25
It is déjà vu all over again (nod to Yogi Berra) as the House subcommittee for Labor, Health, Human Services, Education, and Related Services seeks to decimate funding for education!

Alert your Representative and Senators today that the U.S. Federal Budget should not sacrifice necessary funding for multilingual learners of English and English language teaching professionals.

Let them know that the proposed cuts to education from the House LHHS-E do not represent our values.

LHHS-E has proposed cuts to Education that:

  • reduce funding to ESEA Title I grants for local educational agencies by over 25% - an almost $5 billion decrease from FY24
  • eliminate all funding to ESEA Title III for English Language Acquisition (yes, you read that correctly)
  • eliminate all funding to ESEA Title II-A and to HEA Title II - drastically impacting the ability to address the shortage of ELT, bilingual, and dual language educators.

Read the majority (R ) and minority (D) summaries for more information. You can also watch the markup here.

While the subcommittee has had its markup, the appropriations process continues in both the House and Senate - make your voice heard today!
