"More screening is needed. That's every single one of your kids, not just the girl that you picked up. It's also the boy who offended. It's also the ones that were mean to you. It's also the ones that cussed you out. It's also the ones that have been here 20 times. To every single one of those kids, if they score as needing intervention, we offer them intervention, which we're not doing right now."

When it comes to responding to trafficking victimization and protecting vulnerable populations, a common barrier to victim-centered care has been patchwork service responses and over-burdened child-serving systems.

To assist communities build robust responses to victimization and to support vulnerable populations, we’ve released the groundbreaking Roadmap Report to highlight the harmful effects of punitive measures used to get survivors the resources they deserve. The Report underscores the need for culturally inclusive and responsive services, noting the necessary considerations for providing safe and accessible care to specially impacted populations.

The most effecting responses must be built by the communities themselves. Within the Report, there are customizable decision trees for various needs. Now, we must get this information into the hands of those that can create change – your Governor. Join us in urging them to prioritize the development of community-based responses!
