A “minibus” funding package is an appropriations bill that funds a few individual agencies for a specific budget year.
After reviewing the language of the proposed bill, the Independent Living Program is proposed to be level-funded at $128M for both Part B and C.
It is important to note that the proposed program cuts and eliminations of partner programs within the Administration on Disability are not reflected in this bill, and their program line items are intact.
The House is expected to vote on this bill this week. The Senate is expected to take up the bill next week when they are back in session.
To avoid another government shutdown, both the House and Senate must pass the bill and the President must sign it into law by January 30, 2026.
Please help maintain the funding your Independent Living Centers rely upon. Tell your U.S. Senators and Representatives that this bill, the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education, and Related Agencies Budget Package, must be passed without delay to avoid another pointless shutdown.
